The Problem
Dirty air filters often result in major problems with the heating and cooling system of your building. Recently, we received a call that a client’s furnace was not working. We determined that the cause of the problem was a dirty air filter that hadn’t been changed in over a year. The problem quickly escalated because the filter had not been changed. It ultimately caused the blower motor to overheat and wear-out. The furnace was no more than 5 years old, but already required a new blower motor.
The Solution
We were able to visit the home and replace the blower motor. If the air filter had been replaced monthly, the blower motor wouldn’t have required replacement, as the furnace was only 5 years old. Due to this, we signed up the client for our regular service agreement program. This program allows us to provide all of the preventative maintenance and services that the furnace and air conditioning unit requires. These services are provided in both the spring and fall to ensure that they are prepared adequately for the specific season.
In addition to these services, we installed a bag filter. This filter allows the customer to go a year without changing the air filter, because they are intended to last longer without changes. These filters are also excellent for homes that contain people with allergies. In most cases, we are able to retrofit a bag filter onto your furnace to provide all of these benefits.
Helpful Tips
A 1-inch filter on the furnace or air conditioning unit needs to be changed monthly. A 4-inch filter is required to be replaced every 3 months in order to remain effective. We sell air filters for your convenience, to ensure that you always have them in stock when you need them. We are also more than happy to show you how to change your air filter to prevent these major issues from occurring in the future.
